Phase two starts one to three months (or more) before the actual move
date. Check lead times on anything that has to be ordered through a vendor.
- Design office space and assign office space
- Arrange for various services and maintenance needs
- Evaluate the phone and Internet options in your new area
- Order phone lines and Internet Service, verify the cut-date
- Start designing your marketing strategy related to the move
Communications and Technology
Technology products need to be ordered and arrangements made for their
installation and setup before the one month period. If you are in a position to, work from
referrals from people you know and trust, otherwise make sure to get three
proposals. If you use a bid process and go with the lowest make
sure your request is very specific and everyone is bidding on the exact same product. I
once saw a technical school put out a bid that was not specific for
computers. They had to go with the lowest bid and ended up with a bunch of PCs
some guy built in his garage.
